Our Team
A Team of Leaders
The Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic team strives to provide the highest quality veterinary care to horses through the most up-to-date biotechnologies and education. Whether your horse is your athlete or your pet, one thing is certain: Your horse is an important part of your family and should be treated as such. We appreciate your trust in our care.
Sam Black
Veterinary Assistant
Sam grew up in Fowlerville, Michigan on a dead end dirt road where all the neighbors knew each other. Growing up her mom trained horses and her dad drove the race horses in the standard bred industry. Sam has always shared their love of horses and started off showing in 4-H. She was also a member of her high school equestrian team and later the MSU Western team.
Nicole Bone, LVT
Locum Anesthesiologist
Nicole has always had a love for horses. She was one of those city kids that desperately wanted to be a country kid. While working for a therapeutic riding stable she decided to pursue an equine education at Michigan State University. Nicole’s career took her to a large emergency hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Jess Bromberg
Greeter and Office Team Member
When you walk into Saginaw Valley Equine you can expect a warm welcome from Jess. When Jess was young, her mom surprised her with riding lessons and she has been hooked ever since. Her favorite memory is trail riding in the Sandhills of Nebraska with her sister. When she isn’t at the clinic or horseback riding, Jess enjoys fishing, hunting, training German Shepherds, and spending time with family and friends.
Timm Gudehus, DVM, DACVS, DECVS
Locum Surgeon
Dr. Gudehus moved to Indiana from Germany where he served as an equine surgery specialist since. He is board certified by both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and the European College of Equine Surgeons (ECVS). His love of horses and equestrian sports dates back to his early childhood, growing up in a family with a long history of horse riding and breeding.
Savannah Henrichs
Schedule and Training Manager
Like any younger sister, she followed her big sister when she began horseback riding lessons and instantly fell in love with horseback riding herself. Savannah has taught summer camps, assisted with a therapeutic riding program in high school, and then chose to get her Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science to pursue her passion in the equine industry. Savannah loves to bake, spend time with her husband Benjamin, and has recently discovered a passion for gardening.
Adolfo F. Martínez, MVZ, GPC, EqM
Dr. Adolfo Martínez moved to the US from Mexico where he was a fertility expert, focusing on reproduction, neonatology, and sports medicine. He graduated from the University of Monterrey (UANL) Mexico. Since moving to the States with his wife and two daughters, Dr. Martinez has acquired his General Practitioner in Equine Medicine certification.
Liz Routh, DVM

Although originally from Indiana, Dr. Liz completed her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Iowa State University. Her main areas of interest include preventative medicine, herd health, dentistry, and ophthalmology. Outside of work, Dr. Liz likes to read, craft, maintain her aquariums, and ride whenever possible!
Krista Schaefer
Inventory Manager
Krista brings years of customer service and experience in the equine industry to our team. Krista has many close friends within the horse community. She has spent much of her life in Freeland, where she currently resides with her husband, Ron, along with their Australian Shepherd, KelCee.
Paige Schmidt
Veterinary Assistant
Paige has been around horses her entire life. She started taking dressage lessons at age eight and continued through high school. She trained and showed Arabian sport horses at the national level in college at MSU and continues to compete at that level today with her mare MSU Shes Always Right. If she’s not hanging out with her husband and two dogs (Murphy and Ollie), you can find her remodeling her house.
