Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic has an opportunity for a Veterinary Technician at our practice in Saginaw, Michigan. This role supports veterinarians in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of equine patients while contributing to a well-organized, efficient, and compassionate clinical environment.We are looking for someone who is customer service-focused, team-oriented, self-motivated, energetic, with great communication skills, and a strong work ethic. Experience is a plus, but if you have the passion, we have the people to help teach you and develop your skills. Position Summary

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting veterinarians with diagnostic examinations, treatments, and procedures for equine patients. This position plays a vital role in patient care, medical record accuracy, clinic organization, and equipment maintenance.

Team Member Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Assist with patient medical evaluations and collect medical histories
  • Safely restrain equine patients
  • Administer medications, treatments, and fluids as directed
  • Assist with surgical and diagnostic procedures
  • Assist with anesthesia administration and monitoring
  • Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples
  • Provide critical, intensive, or life-sustaining emergency care as needed

Medical Records & Client Support

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records
  • Assist veterinarians with client communication and education
  • Collect and verify client contact and patient information
  • Record fees for materials and services rendered

Facility, Equipment & Inventory Support

  • Organize patient flow, exam rooms, and isolation areas
  • Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized treatment and service areas
  • Clean, stock, and maintain exam carts and doctors’ trucks
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on clinic equipment
  • Conduct maintenance checks and minor equipment repairs
  • Maintain supply inventory and replenish stock as needed
  • Follow state and federal regulations for controlled drugs

Scheduling & Flexibility

  • May work alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, on-call rotations, and occasional off-site assignments such as horse shows
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Physical & Technical Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including standing, lifting, bending, and restraining patients
  • Proficient with standard clinic and office equipment
  • Comfortable using personal computers and practice management software
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
