Even though I grew up in the suburbs, I was bit by the horse bug at about 9 years of age. I have owned and shown Appaloosas and Quarter Horses in everything from Hunter/Jumper to Reining and Foundation Shows. All of my best friends were made through horses. I currently have two strawberry roan quarter horses, Charlie and Spicey.

I was looking for a new job as my daughter was starting high school, and was offered my current position as the Barn Manager. I feel as though my work career has come full circle as originally attending Virginia Intermont College as an equine studies major. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help other people learn more about caring for so many different types of horses.

In my off hours, I may be helping on the farm, training my dogs, riding my horses, kayaking with friends, camping, or just spending time near or in the water!

My husband and I own a farm where we raise row crops (corn, soybeans, hay and wheat). We are also beef producers, with a mostly angus momma cow/calf operation of approximately 20 head. We sell beef by the piece in our roadside stand, Doc’s Bayside Beef. So if you’re looking for a tasty steak, I can make that happen.

I am also an avid hunter and love spending time with my family in the woods pursuing both fur and feathered game. I have had upland bird dogs for nearly 20 years. My current four legged hunting partners include a well aged Yellow Lab (Doc), a sweet Black Lab (Abby), a clown in a dog suit Deutsch Drahthaar (Bailey), and an Australian Shepherd (an honorary retriever as she flushes birds and swims) Ruby.
