Dr. Mitchell Susalla joined the Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic team after earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University. A native of the Metro Detroit area, Mitch grew up with four siblings, including an identical twin. Although he originally planned to pursue small animal medicine, his hands-on experiences working with horses during veterinary school sparked a passion for equine medicine and changed the direction of his career.
I am a mentored associate veterinarian, and I work with the SVEC team to diagnose and treat horses while continuing to grow in equine practice.
I enjoy the challenge of sports medicine and helping horses perform at their best. I also like working closely with owners and being able to explain what is going on in a clear, understandable way.
I try to bring a thoughtful and compassionate approach to every case. I take time with both the horse and the owner so we can build trust and create the best plan for care.
Clear communication and compassionate care help owners feel informed and confident. That trust makes it easier to work together and provide each horse with the highest quality care.
